The leaves on the trees have turned from green to red and gold, the days are drawing in and the mornings are getting colder, a sure sign that Autumn has bedded itself in and it is time to think about keeping warm and cosy in a winter coat. The parka trend is going from strength to strength, it's warmth and durability matched with stylish touches of fur make it the perfect winter coat. Ice cream & Lollypops

We are a far cry from ice cream and lollypop weather. However, in saying this - Travelling Bazaar was involved in the high end "Trust in Fashion event,"  http://www.marieclaire.co.uk/news/celebrity/545965/marie-claire-joins-forces-with-king-of-glamour-julien-macdonald-to-support-children-s-charity-rainbow-trust.html#index=1 at the Savoy last week where we came across these amazing ice cream fascinators by the talented designer - Awon Golding:

They are incredibly refreshing and perfect for the Spring/Summer season ahead. I am definitely hankering after one! But if the ice creams are too daring Awon has some other beautiful pieces for you to choose from at: www.awongolding.com

On this theme - check out Hoss Intropia's Lollypop Dress. While it doesn't have the theatre of the ice-cream pieces, it will certainly be my default throw on summer dress this season.

Rain, rain... and Ilse Jacobsen

No end in sight for this disastrous weather... Lucky then that we are stocking the Danish design icon Ilse Jacobsen's raincoats and boots.  Uber cool and ultra practical (as befits most things Scandi) they have recently featured in both Elle and Cosmpolitan and worn by celebrities including Liv Tyler, Ellie Goulding and Alexa Chung.

Gorgeous, comfy and durable they are perfect for any time of year and you don’t actually need rain or snow to rock this style. PVC free with natural rubber, the boots withstand cold and heat alike! And you will not look out of place in the city either.

Travelling Bazaar stock the amazing coats in white and blue (one size fits 8-12) and the short boots (sizes 37-40) all at SALE prices: Coats at £90 (were £125) and boots at £70 (were £90).

NEW IN are also these fabulous zipped rain coats, completely waterproof with sealed seams  at £180 (sizes 34-40).

Hankering for Objects from Times Gone By

Walking through Burlington Arcade in the heart of Mayfair is always such a thrill for me. This timeless destination is such an iconic runway and there is always something special to be found that surpasses trends and fads. The 1930's tea set below is just one example of a beautiful and timeless object that you can find here. Although it isn't a necessity in my life right now, i have found myself obsessing and trying to work out how i could possibly acquire it. Totally ridiculous!

I had this same obsessive feeling when i came across an amazing shop in Toulouse - Gallery 7, Rue Boulbonne in the summer which specialises in 20th century decoration and housed the best mid century lighting collection i have seen in a long time. Isabelle Klein the owner has a fantastic eye and you will certainly find something original and completely wonderful here.

And while i am in the mood for a spot of nostalgic living in a different era - i am going to get my fix with a silk Charleston dress from our own Travelling Bazaar A/W 13 edit. Although i really want the tea set!

Wearing the Wrong Coat!

I usually love September, superficially planning my new Autumn wardrobe - gently getting back into knitwear and the latest pair of faux leather leggings or high waisted pair of trousers or whatever new item we are being hit with. However, this week i was caught completely off guard and my superficial musings of outfit planning didn't prepare me at all for torrential rain and cold! I found myself clad in my faithful winter parka which comes with a fur lined hood. It was just wrong - looked wrong, felt wrong and was being worn in mid-September - not even October.

So the lesson of this story is however much you love a wardrobe fav - don't wear an arctic parka in late summer be better prepared and look to something more season appropriate. I am now switching as we speak to an Ilse Jacobsen retro mackintosh. Now this is right! Oh and of course some matching boots too - just to be doubly sure i am kitted out.

Festival favourites

The truth is you don't need very much at an outdoor festival. But sometimes you need to cool down and sometimes warm up a bit and sometimes you need to know what time it is, with a necklace that is not going to strangle you when you sleep. And also have something you can put quite a lot of stuff in when you don't want to use your Marc Jacobs tote but need something that is a bit funkier than a plastic bag. Yes?
